The Tydes were formed in 2003.  They played jazz as the house band at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, entertaining weekend crowds and performing special events throughout the year.  In 2006, they switched to surf music exclusively, blending in tropical, reggae, and rock influences.  In 2008, their CD, Shark Attack, was released, featuring 10 original instrumentals that received rave reviews from critics and buyers alike.

Rip Tyde, aka Glenn Stiglic, has been playing guitar in jazz, rock and country bands for years.  He has a B.A. in Music Composition and has toured with such diverse artists as Boomer McClennan, Ronnie and the Classics, and the Goldbrickers.

Ebb Tyde, aka Carlos Hatem, is the Tydes' percussionist.  Known for his versatility, he has toured the world with Tito Puente, Mick Taylor, Iron Butterfly and many others.  He also writes music for television and commercials.

Red Tyde, aka Dave DeForest, is a mainstay of the L.A. Blues scene.  Red's upright bass can be heard on many L.A. blues artists' CDs, such as 2,000 Pounds of Blues, and the Amazing Wildcats.

The Tydes are currently writing music for their second CD, a mix of original, surf, and tropical party anthems. For booking information, or a CD purchase email us at
